Retract your partisan comments praising NDC performance or resign – NPP to Chief Justice

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has demanded that Ghana’s Chief Justice immediately retract comments praising the performance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government or resign from office, alleging that the head of the judiciary has abandoned neutrality and aligned himself with the ruling party.“The Chief Justice’s words and conduct lend chilling credence to the widespread concern that the leadership of the Judiciary is coordinating with Jubilee House,” the party said.

In a strongly worded statement issued on 3 September 2026 and signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the opposition party said it was reacting with “profound shock and disgust” to a circulating video in which the Chief Justice offered comparative political commentary.
