NSS survival guide

Everything National Service throws at you — PINs, postings, allowance tracking and certificates — in the order you’ll meet them.

Allowance now GH₵715/mo · GH₵1,200 proposed

GH₵715 per month, right now

Paid from your reporting date. The NSA is pushing for GH₵1,200 in the 2026 budget — follow the news for confirmation.

The journey, step by step

  1. 1

    Check your PIN

On the NSA portal with your school index number and date of birth. No PIN, no registration.

  2. 2

    Enrol online

Complete enrolment with accurate details — mismatches cause the delays everyone complains about.

  3. 3

    Check your posting

Download your appointment letter from the portal, then report at post on the stated date.

  4. 4

    Report & document

Payment runs from your reporting date. Keep copies of every letter, form and receipt.

  5. 5

    Track allowance & evaluate

Check allowance status monthly on the portal; complete your annual evaluation for certification.

  6. 6

    Collect your certificate

Request your e-certificate (or physical delivery) once the service year closes.

Do it all on the official portal: posting.gnsa.gov.gh — PIN checks, postings, allowance status and certificates live there.

Stay legit: after the 2025 ghost-names scandal, the NSA rebuilt registration on a new digital platform — old shortcuts and “connection men” will only get your posting voided. Use the portal, keep your documents, and never pay anyone for a posting.
