How to buy smart

Think per-GB, not per-bundle. A GH₵50 bundle holding 50GB (GH₵1.00/GB) beats a GH₵30 bundle holding 5GB (GH₵6.00/GB) six times over — even though the second feels cheaper. The table above does this maths for you.

Watch the night-data trap. Some headline volumes split day and night allocations — gigabytes locked to sleeping hours don’t help your daytime scrolling. Check what portion is usable when you’re awake.

Expiry rules that cost you

No rollover on monthly bundles. Unused data vanishes at expiry on all three networks — so don’t buy 100GB for a 20GB habit. Non-expiry bundles fix this but cost more per gigabyte.

Auto-renew is on by default. With enough airtime or MoMo balance, telcos silently reactivate your package. Manage it in your network’s app, and buy through official channels only — street “cheap data” resellers get lines blocked.

Prices move with NCA reforms and promos — confirm in your network’s app before buying, and verify market context with the National Communications Authority . More tools on the Money page.

Data bundles FAQs

What is the cheapest data bundle in Ghana?

As last checked, MTN’s 50GB monthly bundle at GH₵50 (GH₵1.00 per GB) set the value floor. Prices change often — use the comparator above with live prices from your network’s app.

Do unused bundles roll over in Ghana?

No. None of the three networks rolls over monthly data — unused gigabytes vanish at expiry. Non-expiry bundles solve this but cost more per GB.

Why do bundles auto-renew?

Monthly bundles auto-renew by default: with enough airtime or MoMo balance, the telco re-activates the same package at expiry. Turn it off in your network’s app if your usage is unpredictable.
