Conference on indiscipline in SHSs takes off today

Jul - 29 - 2026 , 09:57 1 minute read The Ministry of Education is set to convene a landmark National Conference on Stemming Indiscipline in Senior High Schools today, Wednesday, July 29 - 30, 2026, in Sunyani, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on practical and sustainable solutions to the growing challenge of indiscipline in Ghana’s second-cycle institutions.

Deliberations and recommendations from the conference will form the basis of a comprehensive policy paper to guide the ministry in developing a coordinated national framework for addressing indiscipline in senior high schools and strengthening value-based education across the country.

Ahead of the conference, the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, held a strategic engagement with members of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) to discuss the state of discipline in senior high schools and the collective responsibility required to restore discipline, character and academic excellence within the education system.
