NPP accuses Mahama of undermining democracy over Agbenyo’s EC appointment | News Desk
The appointment of Emelia Afi Agbenyo as a Deputy Chairperson of Ghana’s Electoral Commission has sparked political controversy, with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) accusing the government of undermining democratic principles. NPP Communications Director Dennis Miracles Aboagye has questioned Agbenyo’s political neutrality, citing her alleged involvement in NDC campaign activities. However, presidential staffer Beatrice Annan maintains that Agbenyo is not a card-bearing NDC member and says her professional experience and gender advocacy should be considered. President John Dramani Mahama has urged Agbenyo and fellow appointee Dr Joseph Kwaku Asamoah to discharge their duties impartially and without favouring any political party. #NewsDesk
