Octogenarian jailed 20 years for defiling nine-year-old girl

Chief Superintendent of Police Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, Accra Regional Police Command, said in a press release copied to the Ghana News Agency that the child, upon questioning, disclosed that the convict, identified as Gahornu, had subjected her to repeated sexual abuse between July and August 2026.“The Accra Regional Police Command welcomes the outcome of the case and reiterates its commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable persons,” the release quoted Chief Superintendent Obeng as saying.
The release said the convict’s granddaughter reportedly witnessed an incident on August 31, 2026, and subsequently informed family members, including the complainant, leading to his arrest after the matter was reported to the Police.
