Hanan Abdul-Wahab cries out over alleged torture, unlawful detentions by state agencies

In a formal petition dated July 17, 2026, Abdul-Wahab detailed what he described as a sustained campaign of rights violations by the Attorney-General’s office, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), and the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) since criminal proceedings were initiated against him.

He claimed he was detained for four days without charge, during which the Deputy Attorney-General, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, made public statements on social media about unproven allegations regarding frozen accounts.

Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab, has petitioned the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, accusing state institutions of subjecting him to systematic harassment, unlawful detention, and torture.
