Africa must shape its own green transition agenda – Prof Denton

She said value addition to critical minerals could create jobs, strengthen economic independence and enable African countries to derive greater benefits from the global transition to cleaner energy.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency ahead of the eighth session of the Kwapong Lectures series, Prof Denton said the continent was at a critical point in its development as global demand for minerals needed for clean energy technologies continued to rise.“We have to think beyond the things that have held us captive in the global economy and use the advantages that we possess to create progress, greater agency and the type of green transition that we want,” the official said.
