Afenyo-Markin sues GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi for alleged defamation

There has been a public misunderstanding between Mr Afenyo-Markin, also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu, and Mr Gyamfi over the scrutiny of GoldBod’s operations and alleged reported losses under the Bank of Ghana’s (BoG’s) Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP).25, GNA – Mr Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader in Parliament, has filed a defamation suit against Mr Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), over statements he describes as false and defamatory.

The legal action follows weeks of public exchanges between the Minority Leader and the GoldBod CEO over the financial performance of the DGPP and the extent to which the program contributed to the reported losses.
