PAC Hearing: GWL reveals revenue shortfall and plans to replace old pumps

Ghana Water Limited’s Managing Director appears before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to address the company’s financial challenges, revenue shortfalls and operational difficulties. During the hearing, management disclosed that GWL is generating only 50% of its expected revenue, with depreciation contributing to some of its losses. The company is targeting financial stability by June 2027 and expects to improve meter reading by the first quarter of 2027 after procuring 72,000 meters this year. The Managing Director also outlined efforts to replace ageing pumps, while acknowledging that GWL requires significant investment to improve its operations. Illegal mining was identified as another challenge affecting the company. The hearing raises questions about revenue collection, infrastructure investment, and the measures needed to put Ghana Water Limited on a more sustainable financial footing.
