UMaT opens underground demonstration mine for practical training 

The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, has officially opened an underground demonstration mine on campus to provide students with direct exposure to underground mining conditions.

Amankwah said the facility was created after he realised that the basement of the university’s administration block, which was originally intended for storing materials, could be converted into a demonstration underground mine.” He said geomatic engineering students could use the facility to take points, undertake mine planning and learn how to relate points on the surface to corresponding points underground.
