UK-based Ghana gov’t-sponsored students to undergo mandatory oath, scholarship validation exercise

The Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom has announced a mandatory Oath of Affirmation and Scholarship Validation Exercise for all Ghana Government-sponsored students studying in the UK, following a directive from the Ghana Scholarships Authority (GSA).

The High Commission explained that under the new law, all beneficiaries of government scholarships pursuing studies outside Ghana are required to personally swear an Oath of Affirmation before a designated officer at a Ghana diplomatic mission.

According to a statement issued by the High Commission's Education Office, the month-long exercise will take place from Thursday, August 13, to Friday, September 4, 2026, in line with Section 31 of the Ghana Scholarships Authority Act, 2025 (Act 1149) and Section 11 of the Oaths Act, 1972 (NRCD 6).
