Safe motherhood training equips midwives to manage high-risk pregnancies

Participants of the training A three-day capacity-building training on safe motherhood has equipped several midwives across the Eastern Region with improved obstetric skills to help reduce maternal deaths and complications.

He said the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council was collaborating with the Eastern Regional Health Directorate, with support from UNFPA, to help reduce maternal deaths and stillbirths in the region.

Michael Agyeman, the Eastern Regional Programme Focal Person, said the GoG-UNFPA initiative sought to achieve three transformative results: zero preventable maternal deaths, zero unmet need for family planning, and zero gender-based violence and harmful practices.
