NPP’s ‘Democracy Under Attack’ protest was aimed at regaining political relevance – Abeiku Hayford

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary hopeful, Abeiku Hayford, has described the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) recent "Democracy Under Attack" demonstration as an attempt by the opposition party to regain political relevance.

According to him, the protest did not constitute evidence of any genuine threat to Ghana’s democracy, arguing that the NPP’s ability to organise and participate in the demonstration peacefully was itself proof that democratic freedoms remained intact.“The very fact that the NPP was able to organise a demonstration peacefully and freely is itself evidence that democracy in Ghana is alive and functioning,” he stated.
