The Queenmother of Asere Amartse We Clan of Sakumo, Naa-Amorkor Shikafutru I, has pledged her full support for the mother & baby programme, an initiative by the St John Ambulance Ghana, to improve maternal and child health.

Expanding services The CEO of St John Ambulance Ghana, Dr Anthony Apedzi, said the launch represented an expansion of its contribution to health care beyond emergency response and ambulance services to include a structured community-based maternal and newborn health intervention.

Initiative The programme, an initiative from St John Ambulance, Ghana, was launched in Accra last Tuesday, on the theme: “Healthy mothers, healthy babies, stronger communities: Advancing free primary health care through mother and baby care”.
