Sarpong has criticised Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem Sai over his public comments on the interrogation of Dennis Miracles Aboagye by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), accusing him of presenting an inaccurate account of the proceedings.

In an open letter, Mr Sarpong, whose party is Ghana’s largest opposition political party, argued that holders of high public office have a duty to communicate with “accuracy, restraint, and respect for the truth,” particularly on matters relating to the administration of justice.” He argued that if Justice Srem Sai did not personally witness the interrogation, “he owes the public an explanation of the basis of his assertions,” adding that if his account contradicted that of Mr Aboagye, “Ghanaians deserve to know the source of your information.
