I’ll fight galamsey, environmental crimes — Dr Agyeman-Rawlings

Context Dr Agyeman-Rawlings is heading to MEST at a time the country is battling key environmental challenges, including illegal mining (galamsey), deforestation and forest degradation, a waste management crisis, as well as climate change impacts on local communities.

Dr Agyeman-Rawlings, the Klottey Korle Member of Parliament (MP), who appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament yesterday, gave a firm assurance that when given the nod as the MEST minister, she would rally all agencies under the ministry and also work with both local and international partners to deal with all forms of environmental pollution to save the planet.

The nominee for Minister of Environment, Science and Technology (MEST), Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has firmly stated her resolve to work closely with other state institutions to sustain and win the fight against illegal mining and other environmental crimes.
