“I never intended to undermine you or the NDC” – Nii Lante Vanderpuye to Sammy Gyamfi

An aspiring National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has issued an unreserved apology to Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi and the party following comments he made during an appearance on Citi TV.

He said Gyamfi deserves the full support of the party as he undertakes one of the most important national responsibilities entrusted to him.

The apology follows criticism from some NDC members after Vanderpuye, speaking on Citi TV on August 20, 2026 suggested he would have adopted a different tone and communication style than Gyamfi in responding to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin during a Government Accountability Series appearance the previous day.
