‘He is over 40’ - NPP petitioned over Pope’s age eligibility for Youth Organiser position

The petitioner further argues that documentary evidence, including public records from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), as well as Pope’s Ghana Card and Ghanaian passport, puts his age at almost 42, which would be above the constitutional threshold of the party.

A petition has been filed with the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Elections Committee challenging the eligibility of Michael Osei Boateng, popularly known as Pope, to contest the party’s upcoming National Executive Elections as National Youth Organiser.

According to the petitioner, Article 15 of the 2025 NPP Constitution establishes the National Youth Wing and defines a youth as a party member who “has not attained the age of forty (40) years.
