GHS launches emergency operations centres framework, roadmap

Implementation plan The Head of the National Public Health Emergency Operations Centre, Dr Lawrence Lartey, said implementation would focus on seven areas: governance and institutionalisation; ICT and public health intelligence; logistics and infrastructure; emergency operations and incident management; workforce capacity; sustainability and multisectoral coordination; and policies, plans and SOPs.

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has launched five strategic documents and a national roadmap to guide the operationalisation of Public Health Emergency Operations Centres (PHEOCs) across the country as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s preparedness and response to public health emergencies.

The five documents launched are the National PHEOC Strategic Plan 2026–2030, National PHEOC Handbook 2026, National PHEOC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Volume One, National Health Workforce Surge Strategic Plan 2026 and National Public Health Workforce Surge Management SOP Volume Two.
