Ghana government rejects GH¢20m MTN offer for South Africa attacks victims
The Ghana government has declined a proposed GH¢20 million donation from MTN Ghana to support Ghanaians affected by xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement issued in Accra on Wednesday, said the Government appreciated the offer but could not accept it because funding had already been secured for the ongoing humanitarian exercise.
The Ministry said it became aware of media reports that MTN Ghana intended to donate GH¢20 million to Ghanaian victims of the attacks following an interview reportedly granted by Dr Ishmael Yamson, Chairman of the MTN Ghana Board.
