He noted that the Bolgatanga Health Centre, which currently had a medical officer serving the entire municipality, was in a deplorable condition and lacked the capacity to adequately serve the growing population or reduce the burden on the Regional Hospital, the region’s main referral facility.

Contributing to the call for a Municipal Hospital, Sydney Ageyomah Abilba, the Regional Focal Person for Malaria, who chaired the meeting, stressed the need for a dedicated Municipal Health facility.

The Bolgatanga Municipal Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Alhaji Alhassan Lawal, has called for the construction of a Municipal Hospital to reduce the growing pressure on the Upper East Regional Hospital.
