Alfred SakyI elected Lay President of Methodist Church Ghana to take over from Attah-Antwi

Featured Aug - 21 - 2026 , 17:17 1 minute read The 52nd Conference of The Methodist Church Ghana has through a standing vote endorsed the election of Alfred Sakyi, a former Lay Chairman of the Tema Diocese, as the next Lay President of the church.

By the constitution of the church, since none of the other nominees obtained over 50 votes, there should have been a second round of vote, as explained by the Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev Professor Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu.

The Lay President of the Methodist Church Ghana is the number two person at the hierarchy of the church’s administration.
