Afoko can close the NPP's darkest chapter — Broadcast journalist

Moomen dismisses this on two grounds: first, that Bawumia and Afoko do not share an ethnic group, since “northern Ghana” encompasses many distinct peoples rather than a single bloc; and second, that for most of the NPP's history before 2020, both the flagbearer and National Chairman were southerners, without that ever being treated as a structural problem for the party.

He directly challenges an argument reportedly circulating among some delegates — that because the NPP's presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, comes from northern Ghana, the National Chairman should not also come from the north.
