Acting Rent Control Commissioner directs landlords, hostel operators to issue rent cards  

Mr Frederick Opoku, the Acting Commissioner of the Rent Control has directed landlords and private hostel operators in the country to prepare, and issue rent cards to tenants or face prosecution.

Mr Opoku said the rent control had oversight responsibilities to regulate, supervise, and assess and ensure that private hostel operators in the country undertake their operations within the confines of the law.

Addressing a news conference in Sunyani, the acting commissioner warned that landlords and private hostel operators who breached the law were liable to a minimum fine of 200 penalty unit or six-month jail term or both.
