Accra-Kumasi bypass project: Roads minister cautions against influencing property owners to reject compensation

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has cautioned surveyors against influencing property owners to reject the government's compensation packages to pave the way for the completion of the existing Accra-Kumasi bypass road project.
Response Responding to the issue of compensation and its attendant consequences on the existing Accra-Kumasi road project, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, said all stakeholders, including chiefs, had been invited for a meeting to address it.
He said one of the challenges the project was facing was property owners turning down compensation offers, stating that after relevant agencies had taken inventory, evaluated and put values on properties for compensation to be paid under the law, some surveyors reportedly approached the affected persons and convinced them not to accept the values given to them.
