Maternal Mental Health Crisis: Over 7,000 Pregnant Women & New Mothers Diagnosed after screening

Maternal mental health is emerging as a major public health concern in Ghana, with pregnant women and new mothers facing challenges including depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. A pilot screening programme identified 380 women with positive mental health screening results among 5,960 women screened across five regions.
