Shama District Assembly acquires nine-acre land for landfill site

Mr Paul Otis Dentu, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Shama, announced this during a town hall meeting at Dwomo, where he presented the Assembly’s development account and ongoing projects to residents.

He said the new landfill site would not only reduce the financial burden on the Assembly but also provide direct control over waste management operations within the district.

The Shama District Assembly in the Western Region has acquired a nine-acre parcel of land near Atwereboanda to establish its own landfill site, ending its reliance on the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) for waste disposal services.
