NAIMOS, security agencies raid illegal mining camps threatening Black Volta River in Savannah Region

The illegal mining here are within the wider catchment of the Black Volta threatening the river through land degradation, sediment-laden runoff, and the potential discharge of fuel, oil, and other pollutants associated with mining operations.

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), in collaboration with the Northern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service, has raided major illegal mining camps threatening the life of the Black Volta River in the Savannah Region.
