Calm restored in Johannesburg CBD after violent protest
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says, “Earlier, we monitored the group that marched from Kwa Mai Mai to Constitutional Hill, and unfortunately we did record an isolated act of lawlessness where a vehicle was set alight and the SAPS will thoroughly investigate the incident to ensure that those who are responsible are caught and brought to book.
This comes after a vehicle was set alight by protestors at the Constitutional Hill Human Rights Precinct in Braamfontein.
The group then subsequently moved to the Home Affairs office in Harrison Street before heading back to Kwa Mai Mai and I can confirm that the situation in the Johannesburg inner city is calm as well as in Soweto, following yesterday’s violent incidents.
