The world records 1.2 million new HIV infections in 2025

The reports from UNAIDS and KFF released at AIDS 2026, said funding for the global HIV response plunged in 2025 – entirely due to a steep decline in US support – putting decades of progress at risk Convened by the International AIDS Society (IAS) – AIDS 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the conference was attended by approximately 7,000 scientists, policy makers, healthcare providers, funders and people living with and affected by HIV from around the world.
