14th Heritage Theatre Festival underway in Accra

The festival will feature performances, workshops, masterclasses, exhibitions and cultural exchanges, with a focus on African heritage and the role of young people in its preservation and promotion.
Cultural responsibility Speaking at the opening ceremony last Sunday, the Paramount Chief of the Prampram Traditional Area, who doubled as the Guest of Honour, HRM Nene Tetteh Wakah III, said Africa had many stories to tell and that theatre and the arts provided an avenue to communicate those stories in ways young people could understand, enjoy and learn from.
He said traditional leaders had a responsibility to protect African culture and pass it on to the next generation, adding that the responsibility also involved parents, teachers, actors, schools and young people.
