Kpone Landfill Waste Pickers deny allegations of picking and selling expired products

Some members working at the landfill The Kpone Landfill Waste Pickers Association has rejected report alleging that some of its members collect and sell expired products from the Kpone landfill, describing the report as false, misleading and damaging to the reputation of its members.

Speaking to the media on July 20, 2026, Chairman of the association, Divine Dekonor, said members are involved solely in waste recovery and recycling activities, where they collect recyclable materials for sale to recycling companies." He urged the public to "disregard the report, insisting that the activities of the association are focused on supporting environmental cleanliness and recycling."
