Carney looking at ‘all options’ as Trump announces 50% tariffs on Canada

Asked about the latest tariffs, which the White House says will take effect in 30 days, on Tuesday, President Trump said Canada had been "very, very tough on us over the years" and "no other presidents done anything about it".

US President Donald Trump has imposed a 50% tariff on a wide range of goods imported from Canada, in retaliation for what he called "unequal treatment" of US cars, dairy and alcohol.

A White House fact sheet said the new tariffs announced this week applied regardless of whether the product was included under the existing free trade agreement between Canada, the US and Mexico, known as the USMCA.
