GMTF unveils ultra-modern cardiac cath lab to restore lifesaving heart care

GMTF restores lifesaving heart care with a new Cardiac Cath Lab at Korle Bu In a powerful demonstration of resilience, visionary leadership, and renewed investment in healthcare, Ghana Medical Trust Fund has officially inaugurated a reconstructed and significantly expanded Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the National Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, restoring one of the country's most critical lifesaving facilities barely a year after it was destroyed by fire.

Even before officially resuming full operations, the laboratory will host a landmark cardiac intervention programme in collaboration with the National Cardiothoracic Centre, specialist cardiologists from the United States, the Mount Carmel Foundation, Africa World Airlines and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

The impact of the new facility called the Ghana Medical Trust Fund’s Cardiac Catheterization laboratory is expected to be immediate.
