Lawyers in Search of Democracy (LINSOD) has applauded President for what they say is him following the right constitutional procedures in the processes of removing the Chief Justice, Getrude Araba Sackey Torkornoo.

According to them, the president's actions, including consulting the Council of State, establishing a prima facie case, setting up a committee, and suspending the Chief Justice by warrant, are in full accordance with the constitution, so none can fault him for following the law religiously. "It is important to note that upon a very careful reading of the provisions in article 146 of the constitution on one hand, and the decision in Agyei Twum, on the other hand, it shall be obvious to all that President john Dramani Mahama has followed the law religiously so far, and none can fault him," the statement.

In a statement signed by its President, Eric Delanyo Alifo, and copied to GhanaWeb, LINSOD commended President Mahama for his compliance with Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution and a landmark Supreme Court decision in the case of Frank Agyei Twum vrs Attorney General and Bright Akwetey.

The group pointed out that the delay by the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) in responding to the suspension of the CJ meant that it could not find any fault with the president's conduct, describing it as quite unusual. "It is, therefore, not surprising at all that it took even the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) a considerable amount of time to wade into the public discourse on the subject, and when it finally did, its statement could not find anything to accuse President Mahama of regarding his role in the process so far.
