Former Asante Kotoko and WAFA midfielder Umar Bashiru has taken the next step in his professional career, signing with newly promoted Iraqi Stars League club Al Mosul ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 28-year-old Ghanaian joins the Iraqi outfit on a free transfer following the conclusion of his highly successful stint in Ethiopia, where he last played for Ethiopia Nigd Bank SA.

Bashiru has agreed to a one-year contract, with an option to extend depending on performance.

Bashiru enjoyed a fruitful spell in Ethiopia, emerging as one of the standout foreign players in the country's top tier.
