The Minister of Roads and Highways, , has declared an end to the unregulated and indiscriminate awarding of road contracts in the country.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series held at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, he said the current administration is committed to restoring discipline and transparency in the road sector.

According to him, previous administrations contributed to inefficiencies in the sector by awarding contracts without proper planning, budgetary allocation, or adherence to due process. "The era of uncontrolled, unregulated award of road contracts is far gone.

We now have in place strict procurement procedures and prioritisation mechanisms to ensure that every project we undertake is necessary, properly funded, and delivered on time," he stated.
