39 rescued as EOCO uncovers alleged overseas travel fraud scheme in Hohoe

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, has rescued 39 persons during an intelligence-led operation targeting an alleged travel fraud and human trafficking scheme in Hohoe in the Volta Region.

According to EOCO, the operation targeted two groups involved in the travel fraud and human trafficking scheme.

It further noted that 14 of the persons picked up during the operation are suspected to be connected with the scheme, while 25 others are believed to be victims and the suspected victims are said to have originated from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, and Côte d’Ivoire.
