‘They had dreams they hoped to fulfil’ – Mahama remembers Departed 8

President John Mahama has reflected on the dreams and aspirations of the eight state officials who died in the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash, saying they left behind many things they hoped to accomplish.
According to the president, "They (victims) left behind unfinished conversations, appointments they expected to keep, families they expected to return to and dreams they believe they still have time to fulfill; that is perhaps the greatest lesson this anniversary teaches us.
The August 6, 2025 helicopter crash claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane-Boamah, Agriculture Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and six others, including three Ghana Air Force crew members, while they were travelling to the Ashanti Region in connection with the fight against illegal mining.
