'Numerous inaccuracies': UGMC rejects Michael Blackson's criticism over his late mother's care

University of Ghana Medical Centre The University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) says comedian Michael Blackson's claims about the treatment of his late mother at the facility contain "numerous inaccuracies," rejecting allegations that its staff were incompetent and motivated by money.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, UGMC addressed Blackson's accusations, saying they did not accurately reflect the care provided to his 83-year-old mother, who was admitted to the facility from May 27 to July 16, 2026.

The hospital added that all clinical decisions are made by qualified healthcare professionals in accordance with established standards of care and in consultation with authorised family representatives where necessary.
