Manhyia Royal Family nominates Nana Ama Bonsu I as new Asantehemaa

Her appointment fills one of the kingdom’s most important traditional leadership positions and is expected to further strengthen the governance structure of the Asante Kingdom while continuing the enduring legacy of the office of the Asantehemaa.

In line with Asante custom and tradition, Nana Ama Bonsu I is scheduled to be formally unveiled and introduced to the Asanteman Council on Thursday, July 9, marking the official assumption of one of the kingdom’s highest traditional offices.

The ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, dignitaries and members of the Asante Kingdom, who witnessed the official presentation of Nana Ama Bonsu I and reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the customs, traditions and institutions of Asanteman.
