
Mahama declares July 10–11 National General Cleaning Days in flood-affected regions
The statement said the exercise would include desilting choked drains to improve the free flow of water ahead of the rains, sweeping and clearing sand, weeds and debris from major roads and highways, and cleaning public places such as markets, lorry parks, recreational parks and communal waste collection points.
On Friday, July 10, personnel from the security agencies, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, and waste management companies will begin the exercise.
According to the statement, the President has directed all government appointees, including Ministers of State, Chief Executive Officers, Members of Parliament, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, and heads of public institutions, to leave their offices and lead the cleanup exercise in their respective communities.
