Kumasi Mayor launches Youth Climate Action Fund 2.0, invites proposals from young people

Announcing the call on Wednesday, the mayor said Kumasi’s selection for the third consecutive time to participate in the global initiative reflects the city’s commitment to advancing climate action while empowering young people to lead local environmental solutions.

The Youth Climate Action Fund initially provides participating city administrations with US$50,000 to support youth-led projects that contribute to their climate action strategies, with the broader goal of mobilising thousands of young people worldwide to drive community-based climate solutions.

The Youth Climate Action Fund, announced by Bloomberg Philanthropies during the COP28 UAE Local Climate Action Summit in December 2023, is designed to provide technical assistance and financial support to young people as co-designers, co-producers and co-governors of climate solutions within their communities.
