According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command on July 7, 2026, the operation targeted known crime prone areas including Emena New Site, Boadi, Abuabo, Ash Town, Kodie, Bremang, Pankrono and Gyinyaase within the Kumasi Metropolis.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, signed the statement.

Forty four people have been arrested in a police operation targeting an alleged drug distribution network in the Kumasi Metropolis, with officers recovering suspected narcotics, tramadol, drug infused confectioneries and illegal gambling machines.
