
Ghana congratulates US on 250th Independence Anniversary, celebrates decades of partnership
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a press release issued on July 5, 2026, that President Mahama conveyed the message on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, a day after the United States marked its Independence Day on July 4.
The ministry said President Mahama described the occasion as "auspicious" and referred to the longstanding relations between Ghana and the United States, which date back to Ghana's independence in 1957.
In his letter to President Trump, President Mahama expressed confidence that relations between Ghana and the United States would continue to be guided by shared values, including the rule of law, human rights, democracy and economic prosperity, which he described as the foundation of the close and enduring partnership between the two countries.
