End human trafficking - Challenging Heights calls for action

As Ghana joined the world to mark World Day Against Trafficking in Persons last Thursday, Challenging Heights has called for a concerted effort from all stakeholders to help end the rising scale of human trafficking that continues to rob children and young people of their childhood, dignity and freedom.
In the first half of this year alone, he said the organisation, working with the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) and other partners, supported the rescue of 144 victims of trafficking and modern slavery.
In a statement to mark the day, which falls on July 30 every year, it quoted the Global Slavery Index, which estimates that 50 million people were living in modern slavery on any given day, with over seven million of them in Africa alone.
