Advancing Africa’s Health Sovereignty: Mahama meets with global health leaders

By Iddi Yire, GNA Accra, July 21, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, met with global health leaders – Madam Winnie Byanyima, the UNAIDS Executive Director and Madam Joy Phumaphi, the Executive Secretary, African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA), for high-level talks on strengthening public health across Africa.

A statement issued by the Presidency said at the heart of the discussion were the Accra Reset, President Mahama’s bold vision for an Africa that produced its own vaccines, building resilient health systems, and moving beyond aid dependency toward true self-reliance.

Madam Byanyima praised President Mahama’s leadership in championing health sovereignty for Ghana, Africa, and the Global South.
