In a commendable effort to promote safety among his constituents, particularly those residing along the Black Volta, Lawyer Bede A Ziedeng, Member of Parliament for the Lawra constituency today presented 20 life jackets to six communities along the black Volta in honor of a promise he made to the people.

The move seeks to halt or reduce canoe/boat accidents among travelers crossing the black Volta River at various points in the Lawra municipality which sometimes result in lost of lives, with the recent disaster involving some six students of the Lawra Senior High School.

Speaking at a short ceremony today to hand over the life jackets at Dikpe, the MP bemoaned the lost of lives and attributed the situation to lack of life jackets for travelers crossing the River. "We regret all the boat incidents, particularly those involving the death of our Brothers and sisters.

This issue is of grave concern to the government.
