A man alleged to have engaged in stealing narrowly escaped a mob attack due to his quick-wittedness and the timely intervention of the police.

According to a report by myjoyonline.com, the man, who has yet to be identified, was in the process of stealing banners from a billboard near the 37 traffic light but triggered an alarm in the process.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, August 17, 2025, attracted an angry crowd who gathered to pursue the suspect.

In his desperation to avoid being beaten by the mob, the suspect is said to have climbed a large tree between the 37 bus station and the hospital. "He came to steal banners used for a billboard at 11 PM, and after cutting the banners, the alarm went off, so he climbed the tree to avoid arrest," the report quoted an eyewitness.
